What "I'm fine" really means

"I'm fine"

"Fine" with a period is rarely fine. It's the sound of someone who's decided that explaining themselves isn't worth it — usually because they've told you before and nothing changed.

The shortness is the message: I'm done trying to make you understand. Pushing "no really, what's wrong" often makes it worse; naming the pattern ("this feels like more than fine") lands better.

Decode YOUR exact message → it depends on context

These are the patterns — but the same word means different things from different people. Sided reads your actual conversation and tells you what THIS person means, and what to say back.
