What "if you say so" really means

Pure passive resistance. "If you say so" means "I disagree and I'm done arguing, but I want you to know I'm not actually convinced." A white flag with a middle finger folded inside it.

The disagreement didn't resolve — it just went quiet. If it matters, "it sounds like you don't buy it — what am I missing?" reopens it before the resentment sets.
